Experiences

“In the course of the programme the children deal with the tasks they are given in a more and more independent and confident way. They recognize and describe connections, work out differences, and their ability to remember things increases. The children deal with numbers in a more active way. They can picture the numbers in a concrete way--the numbers have a real meaning for them. They learn that a number is related to something. The children no longer just repeat memorized numbers. The children are highly motivated and look forward to Numberland.” Wera Göbel, Kindergarten Pusteblume, Hennef

“We have had thoroughly positive experiences (with this programme). My colleagues are downright “in love” with the programme, and the children show no signs of decreasing interest and are very concentrated the whole time. We have also had only positive comments from the parents. They tell us that their children eagerly look forward to the days when they can go to “Number School”.”

“We have had very good experiences with the Numberland programme—the children and I have had a lot of fun! And we have observed that the children have made clear progress.”

“In our school for mentally handicapped children we have had very good experiences with the Numberland programme. The students have developed an understanding for amounts, can count things, know the order of the numbers up to 20, etc. In general a very good basis for further teaching.”

“I am an educational therapist. I like to incorporate methods from the Numberland programme in my work.”

“The children are very interested in the (Numberland) programme. Parents tell me how their children relate their experiences in Numberland to their everyday lives. I see the programme as a total success: on the one hand I pay more attention when children come with questions like “how much is a lot? How much is a little?” and on the other hand children approach me to show me their discoveries. ... In conclusion, (the programme) is just GREAT!”

“I work with first graders in a school for special education with an emphasis on language. I have been working with the Numberland programme for the first time and am totally enthusiastic. The concept is very appropriate for our school because of the many communicative aspects. ... My colleagues have also become enthusiastic, and the concept has been integrated as a permanent part of our mathematics education programme.”

“The children participate with heart and soul. It is fun for them to learn the numbers and their value in a playful manner. All in all a good thing.”
